tv  series (with poems)

Capturing images on live news, often of crime, was the beginning of this series. Later, Dennis extended the series into images from the often vapid world of TV entertainment, especially programs featuring violence.

The poems began as a parallel to the photographic practice of appropriating images. The poems were written by borrowing phrases from obituaries (Dennis always read them first when the morning paper arrived). Each phrase borrowed from the obituary was divided into three lines. The poems were constructed combining five of these three lined phrases, for a total of fifteen lines.

He prefers to show the poems as a triptych with two photographs.
